Clearance from Roof Covering

The lap siding on this home is a fiber cement product. The most common manufacturer in our region is James Hardie Corporation. One installation defect we commonly find is the failure to maintain 2” of clearance from the roof covering. In our market I have not found this condition to have a negative effect on this type of siding material.
